Travel Safety in Vietnam
Overview
Vietnam is generally safe. Crime is not a major risk in the country but is more likely to occur in urban areas such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
One common tactic used by criminals is to drive past on a motorcycle and snatch a bag or valuable from a pedestrian; petty theft is also often reported on public transport.
Currently, Vietnam has negligible risks of terrorism, conflict and kidnapping, and demonstrations are not common.
Medical facilities may be adequate in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other larger towns and cities, but this is not the case in rural areas.
