Travel Safety in Botswana
Overview
There are very few security risks in Botswana. Crime is the dominant concern, but is mainly limited to Gaborone, Francistown and Maun. The most common form of crime is theft of unattended items. Mugging sometimes takes place in isolated areas of urban centres.
Demonstrations do not commonly occur; when they do they too are more likely to take place in Gaborone and conclude peacefully. The risks of kidnappings, conflict and terrorism are currently insignificant.
Private medical facilities in Gaborone are adequate, but facilities elsewhere, including in national parks, are scarce.
