Travel Safety in Bahrain
Overview
Bahrain has been impacted by the ongoing conflict in Iran and the broader Middle East region. Drones emanating from Iran have targeted United States military infrastructure in Manama, in addition to civilian interests such as the Bahrain International Airport on Muharraq Island. Travellers should monitor the potential for terrorist incidents targeting interests associated with the United States; civil unrest relating to political and conflict events; and the potential that Iran will engage Bahrain in direct conflict.
Ordinarily, there are few security risks in Bahrain. Demonstrations take place throughout the country and have the potential to turn violent. Acts of terrorism carried out by domestic and regional groups have resulted in small but fatal explosions occurring in public places such as shopping malls and motorways. Crime is rare throughout the country and usually of a petty and opportunistic nature. Kidnappings are not likely to occur in Bahrain. In general, the medical facilities available in Bahrain are of an acceptable standard.
